Lucid Dreaming - Into The Shadow

COURSE DESCRIPTION

In this immersive lucid dreaming retreat, we’ll explore how to transform the third of our lives we spend in bed by learning to dream lucidly and consciously transform our shadows.

A lucid dream is a dream in which we are actively aware that we are dreaming as the dream is happening.

Once we are lucid, we gain access to the deepest depths of the unconscious mind, which allows us to engage in psychological healing at a level often unattainable in the waking state.

Taking place at the beautiful Karuna Dartmoor Retreat Centre, right by the Dartmoor National Park, this retreat will include everything you need to learn how to lucid dream and to face and embrace your shadow side.

The retreat is led by Charlie Morley. Sourced from his latest book "Do The Shadow Work", Charlie will be offering a fully updated and revised set of shadow work practices to the retreat.

But what is the shadow? The Shadow is made up of all that we hide from others: our shame, our fears, our psychological wounds, but also our golden potential, our blinding beauty and our hidden talents. It is a huge source of power and creativity, but until we bring it into the light, this power will remain untapped and our full potential unreached.

Imagine if we could meet our shadow in a lucid dream? We can.

Using the “No Mud, No Lotus” approach, this retreat will guide you to the gold within your shadow through both lucid dream and waking-state exercises.

We’ll combine an immersive 12-hour daily schedule of both lucid dreaming and shadow work with optional night-time practices to create the best possible conditions for having transformational lucid dreams.

Charlie will be assisted by long-term colleague and collaborator James Scurry. James is a Mindfulness-based Core Process Psychotherapist accredited with the UK Council for Psychotherapists [UKCP] and the Association of Core Process Psychotherapists [ACPP]. He has also completed 100 hours of facilitator training in lucid dreaming.

The retreat includes teachings on the history, science and practice of lucid dreaming from both the Western and Tibetan Buddhist traditions, instructions on how to maintain awareness into sleep, recognition of the dreamlike nature of reality and, of course, plenty of practical teachings on learning how to lucid dream.

Charlie’s teaching style is highly practical, using music, movement, and interactive exercises to deepen the learning experience.

Highlights include:

  • Learning how to Lucid dream

  • Exploring our personal shadows

  • Shamanic Mask & Mirror work

  • Tibetan Buddhist dream yoga

  • Morning dream circles

  • Yoga Nidra sessions

The retreat is open to complete beginners (as well as seasoned practitioners) and gives you everything you need to learn how to lucid dream and how to face & embrace your shadow.

The end goal of this work is to become- in the words of Charlie’s teacher Lama Yeshe Rinpoche“more awake, more aware, more kind.”

How do the optional night-time practices work exactly?

Participants can choose to spend the second half of the night sleeping in the workshop space where they will be guided into several sessions of lucid dream practice. The night-time wake-ups are totally optional, though, so if you would prefer to stay in your room, that’s absolutely fine.

If you do intend to do the night-time sessions, please bring:

  • A camping mattress/roll mat

  • A sleeping bag/blanket

  • Extra pillow if you need one

  • Enthusiasm and a sense of humour!
