Maura Sills is the Founder of Core Process Psychotherapy which offers an innovative psycho-spiritual approach to therapy. Karuna Dartmoor integrates western psychotherapeutic models with Buddhist psychology and mindfulness practices. Drawing on over 30 years of experience, Core Process Psychotherapy offers a depth understanding of what helps and hinders healing insight and transformation. She was a nun in the Theravadan Buddhist tradition with Taungpulu Sayadaw of the Burmese Forest Tradition. Maura has led Meditation Retreats for over forty years in both the Theravadin and Tibetan Buddhist traditions.

Maura is an Honorary Fellow of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and Director of Training at Karuna Dartmoor which offers Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and various retreats.

FAQs

  • Comfortable indoor and outdoor clothing, to include slippers for inside use and suitable outdoor wear to take advantage of beautiful walks.

    We have a laundry service which supplies bedding, so there is no need to bring any sheets/duvet covers/pillowcases.

    Fresh towels are provided for your use as drying facilities are not available. However, please bring your own personal toiletry items.

    Please ensure that you bring everything you need with you as we are in a rural area and the nearest shops are a 25 minute drive away. We do have a couple of hairdryers here for your use.

    Students should bring their own writing implements, notebooks, journals etc.

  • Karuna offers vegetarian meals. We are able to offer wheat and/or dairy free or vegan alternatives but you must notify us at least 4 weeks in advance of your stay.

  • We do have wifi in certain areas of the house, but it can be sporadic. We are reliant on 4G signal, because of our remote location on Dartmoor.

  • Yes, there is plenty of free parking at Karuna Dartmoor.

  • No, all of our courses are fully residential. This is one of the great benefits of attending Karuna Dartmoor. The residential setting deepens the level of training you will receive while being here.

  • Students share rooms with between one and three other students of the same gender at Karuna Dartmoor. We have some room for those with walking disabilities too. Although sometimes challenging, we find that sharing accommodation creates deep levels of friendship as well as allows for the exploration of inter-personal process.

  • We have one ground floor bedroom which is wheelchair accessible. Our seminar room and living, eating areas are also wheelchair accessible.

  • We welcome participants from all spiritual traditions, and from none. Our courses are based on principles of compassion, empathy and embodied enquiry.

  • Yes, we welcome external venue bookings for retreats from 15 to 24 people.

    The tranquility and beauty of the location is ideal for Mind and Body retreats, Yoga courses, Holistic Therapy groups and Meditation.
